so i've been on LJ for about...i think 8 yrs (2003)? I moved accounts only once, and now i'm generally a lurker...i post sommmmmeeee things privately, but still rarely...not public so much anymore except for silly things.

i'm not saying i'm going to post more of one thing or another, but i'm curious:

like, what makes you click on the little "add to friendslist" button next to my name?

i'm very boring, and i complain a lot...that's about it. some of you guys i think followed me from my first account where I used to draw some harry potter things and then unintentionally nekkid people (because clothes are too hard) but that has long since ended with the acquisition of ADULT RESPONSIBILITIES....so yeah, now i'm curious, what amusement do you seek from me? =)

(i know half the ppl are only obligatorily adding me because i added them to see their private entries, so this is mainly for the people who actually intentionally added me =p)

i have 11 days off of my office job but i will be shipping working and shipping and shipping...and shipping? magazines until the new year. EXCITING! but actually, it really is. to finally see all this hard work go out into the world, I hope people enjoy it...or, if you have anything negative to say, please do it reasonably. I'm a reasonable person, i actually work very hard to see all sides of a situation (symptom of my mathemagician days where you need to work out all possible scenarios) and will probably agree with you. DISCUSSION! like old timey men in the parlor with a smoke and some spirits.

I had a fawn in 2010 post that ended up sounding ridiculously emo so i deleted it and i want to keep this one lighthearted. 2011 is going to be interesting! I feel change will happen! and already exciting plans are being made~~! I really look forward to this one~

yoinked from jen_kat

The BBC believes most people will have read only 6 of the 100 books listed here. Bold those books you've read in their entirety, italicize the ones you started but didn't finish or read an excerpt.
only because of forced summer reading in HS was i able to read the ones i read...otherwise i would only read comics in high schoolCollapse )

there were a lot more books i read for stupid english in highschool that wasn't on the list, so now i feel gyped for my past self having to have read all those books that weren't even worth my future self being able to BOLD it on a list like this....

i was totally not a reader as a kid...i like stories, don't get me wrong, but i'm also kind of hyper and liked DOING stuff than sitting...though now, as an adult, preferences have changed, but for some reason i like getting my stories with pictures still =p

suddenly i feel like everyone should read this, Satoshi Kon's last words:

it's so human and raw and real...i feel like if i was in the same situation, this is how i would be feeling...all the selfishness, the apologies...i would want to tell no one but i would feel bad for not telling anyone. want to see people but not wanting them to see me...trying to resolve things for those left behind....LOVELOVELOVE for everyone but sadness for not being a better person for them. I hope his wife lives the rest of her days peacefully as he wanted~

only a week and a half until SDCC and i'm not prepared for anything i should be prepared for...work....killing meeeee

I'M ON A PANEL!! probably first and last~ here are the details:

FRIDAY JULY 23, 2010

3:30-4:30 Comics Design— How do pages of art become a book? Six designers -- Mark Chiarello (DC Comics), Adam Grano (Fantagraphics), Chip Kidd (Random House), Fawn Lau (VIZ), Mark Siegel (First Second Books), and Keith Wood (Oni Press) -- discuss what's involved in the process of comics design, and the importance of design to a book's critical and consumer reception. Moderated by Chris Butcher (The Beguiling). Room 26AB

i would have attended this panel even if i wasn't on it cuz CHIP KIDD! also most excellent dudes from fantagraphics *DROOL* and the art director for oni, so you know i'd love to pick their brains on how some of them manage their manga licenses and/or original titles....

if you guys are going, feel free to see me make a fool of myself~ eitherway i hope it's interesting~

this year there's a bunch of panels i want to go to, but TIPPITY TOPTOP on my list is the mythbusters panel on saturday~~! ALL FIVE AT ONCE! amazingggg

that's about it for the public stuff~~! i'm just focusing on work right now...can't wait until after SDCC!

dawww! i thought this was so cute the end almost made me tear up because i'm a wusssssss

Watch CBS News Videos Online

i was also a doubles player w/my twin and i remember watching the bryans when there were still stanford students playing in major tournaments and thinking "wow i wish we could be the girl versions of them!" but alas no~

omg i keep watching the end when they get all nervous for the last match and mike is vomiting into bob's towel and bob is all mouthing and gesticulating to the court assist "do you have something for his stomach?" GAHGAH! i feel like the STRESS! this is why i hated competition~~~ but also that whole "GAHHH!" when they won and the falling to the knees and the epic shakey stretched hands in the air of WIN! is like YEAH!!!!!! I WONNN!!!! feeling....man those are good feelings =p when will i ever win in life again?

SF peoples~

i keep forgetting to mention this, AI has an open drawing session on friday evenings...free nudies~

last week was actually the first week i went, but i plan to go each friday after work...it was fun but man i really haven't looked at/considered anatomy seriously in SO long...

my main goal in these sessions are feet...feet are so hard...and also understanding weight and poses/postures...i'm totally failing at dynamic poses.

though, i wonder if it'll be figure drawing all the time, but it said "open drawing session" which makes me think maybe sometimes it won't be a human model...i guess i won't mind some fruit bowls...

anywho, just a heads up! i know it's hard for some people to keep up with drawing post graduation, and especially to have live figure drawing for free!...it's pretty great.
